Academic Search Complete

  • Use Academic Search to search for articles on almost any topic, from marketing to business, company profiles, and the social impacts of advertising.

  • Click Full Text on the left so you can read articles online.


Business Source Complete 

(navigates the same as Academic Search Complete)

  • Use Business Search to find articles and case studies on business topics.

  • Use "Company Profiles" to find SWOT and reports on a company's history (search for publicly traded companies only)

 


Statista 

  • This link opens in a new window

    • Statstics, reports, and visual data for a range of topics, countries, industries, trending topics, and more

    • NOTE: Click through any security warnings & pop-up blockers that may appear

    • Expert tools options are unavailable

Brand Catalyst

  • "Predictive consumer segmentation and brand strategy tool": find out info about how likely a consumer is to purchase a brand, or engage in a behavior.
  • Helps to define brand identity.
  • If you are familiar with MRI+, Brand Catalyst is the "new" MRI+.
  • Click on "Catalyst" from the drop down menu and then "Brand Catalyst."
  • Use "Explorer" to find out the target persona/consumer of a brand or company (or lifestyle statement)
  • Use "Reporter" to dive into specific and granular data regarding demographics, behaviors, etc. of a target consumer of a brand.
  • Can compare brands.

  • Reports cover fields such as Consumer Behavior & Marketing, Entertainment & Leisure, Pandemic Impact, Restaurant/Food & Beverage, Retail/E-commerce, Sports Marketing, Travel & Tourism, and U.S. Cities & Communities
  • Use CTRL F to search PDF for key terms

 

IBISWorld

  • industry research for over 700 US industries

  • research on hundreds of international industries

  • Watch the video below for a quick tutorial on how to navigate and access global industry data and reports

  • NOTE: you can search by industry name (such as "Vitamins and Supplements") or by the NAICS (325411- if you don't know the code, Google it)

  • If you need help navigating the various reports or even finding the relevant NAICS, contact Jenny, the librarian (jcastel@jwu.edu)

 

If you use the library's databases for your research, you can copy and paste pre-generated citations - look out for the option as it may appear differently in each interface but is generally represented by an icon of quotation marks.

 

If you need to cite a resource not located in a database, I recommend using the OWL as a reference. Alternatively, reach out to me for help with citations!
