Ways the Library Can Help Integrate IL and Support Services

Content of these services are tailored to meet the needs of both faculty and students.

Embedded (Personal) Librarian Service through CMS

  • The subject librarian liaison can be added to your course to provide direct access for students to contact their personal librarian throughout the term, as well as provide course specific research content and support.

  • A quick visit to the classroom or direct email announcement to the class is recommended for students to become familiar with the librarian who is there to assist them throughout the course. (NOTE: ENG 1020 PILOT, SPRING 2014)

Activity-based Information Literacy Instruction Sessions

  • Activity-based Instruction Sessions are tailored to meet assignment goals or specific research needs. Typically this will include a group brainstorm activity followed by identifying information sources and developing search strategies. Citation help and advanced database skills can also be incorporated.
