Background Information
- Brief Timeline of Taxation in the USA3-part chronology of the history of taxation in America from colonial times to the present. Brief but well-done.
- History of Taxes in the U.S.From Ivestopedia.com. Traces the growth/complexity of the U.S. system of taxation from colonial times to the present.
- Tax History ProjectFrom Tax Analysts. "A public service initiative ... which provides scholars, policy makers, journalists and the general public with information on the history of U.S. public finance". Also includes "Presidential Tax Returns" links to select presidents (and their opponents) and current candidates. Best feature is "Tax History Museum", which provides an outstanding narrative tax history from 1660 - 2005. Excellent resource for many aspects of the U.S tax system.
