PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND SCHOLARSHIP

Through publications, awards, webinars, conferences and network events, listservs and program resources, JWU faculty can continue to strengthen service-learning and engaged scholarship.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES

Campus Compact offers numerous local, regional and national conferences, webinars and network meetings for faculty and staff involved in civic engagement.  You can visit the national Campus Compact website, www.compact.org or the Rhode Island Campus Compact website, www.ricompact.org, for more information.  In the past, webinars have been offered on topics such as “Diving Deep in Community Engagement: A Model for Community Service-Learning Professional Development.”

Conferences to consider include:

  • Annual RI Campus Compact Statewide Meeting (usually held in April),
  • Annual Continuums of Service Conference (usually held in April),
  • International Symposium on Service-Learning (usually held in May),
  • Regional Campus Compact summits/conferences (usually held in June and October),
  • Annual NSEE conference (usually held in October, with workshops held throughout the year),
  • International Association for Research on Service-learning and Community Engagement conference (usually held in November),
  • Annual AACU conference (usually held in January, with many training events and conferences throughout the year).

In 2016, Campus Compact will celebrate its 30th anniversary with a special conference in Boston March 21-23, 2016.  The conference will explore the past, present, and future work of the Campus Compact network; member colleges and universities; and the many organizations, programs, and projects contributing to engagement in higher education.
