Program Description

Program Overview

The Culinary Arts & Food Service Management and The Baking & Pastry Arts & Food Service Management programs combine the strength of laboratory technical skills with industry management practices to prepare students for a managerial career in either the front or back of the house. Employment opportunities for graduates include, but are not limited to, restaurant manager, kitchen manager, executive chef, pastry chef, food and beverage director, catering manager, room service manager, accounts manager, sous chef, beverage manager, dining room manager, and sales representative.

Academic Rigor-Focused Options

The curriculum provides opportunities for the food service professionals of tomorrow to build upon their leadership and management abilities, cooking and baking techniques, critical thinking, personal accountability and ethical behavior, problem-solving techniques and strong financial analysis and customer skills.

The Culinary Arts & Food Service Management and The Baking & Pastry Arts & Food Service Management programs provide students with a world-class culinary or pastry arts and hospitality education. Students benefit by creating unique senior-level capstone experiences in culinary arts, pastry arts, hospitality operations and strategic management.

Students focus their studies by selecting elective classes and concentrations in both Management and Advanced Laboratory Studies. Options under Management include Food and Beverage, Resort, Casino & Gaming Operations, and On Site Food Service. Advanced Laboratory Studies further develop technical skills in Baking & Pastry Arts,

Culinary Arts, Sommelier, and Wellness and Sustainability. Elective classes and Concentrations allow students to customize curriculum vital to their success as ideal candidates for a variety of segments and venues within the hospitality industry.
