Consistent, on-time class attendance is critical to success and deep learning. Students should not be able to miss class or consistently arrive late and still be able to achieve at high levels. Their investment in classroom discussions, presentations, and activities should be critical to achieving course outcomes.
Check attendance at every session. Notify the Director of any on-going attendance issues so that the program can provide support and/or guidance. Professors teaching at the Masters level classes must complete attendance surveys in USucceed (see detail in weekly schedule).
Class attendance is mandatory; however, it is understood that illness and other serious issues may, from time-to-time, prevent a student from attending a class session. In those cases, the student should notify the professor about the absence in advance of the start of class. The professor is encouraged to be open to virtual attendance if the situation lends itself to that option, allowing the student to Skype or Director.
FaceTime into class for all or part of the class session. It is the student’s responsibility to arrange the technology-related details with classmates. If virtual attendance is not possible, use your discretion regarding impact on grading and availability of make-up work, extended deadlines, or alternate assignments. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to theElectronic course evaluations are distributed to students for most courses during the term/semester. Faculty will receive an email one (1) week prior to the start of the evaluation period as a reminder of the upcoming evaluations. Another email will be received once the evaluation results become available. Course evaluation results will be available in the "JWU Course Evaluation" section of uLearn.
It is required that you post student grades in the ulearn Grade Center of each course you teach (found in the Course Management section of your course site's left-hand menu). Grade Center columns should reflect all graded components of your course and you should include a final grade column so that students know their standing.
SUBMITTING FINAL GRADES- Grades should be entered within 48 hours of the last class meeting or final exam. To avoid delays/errors, begin grading by no later than 9am ET on the posted deadline. Although grades may be calculated in ulearn, a grade for each student listed on your roster must be submitted via jwuLink before the grading deadline. More information on Final Grading, including deadlines and instructions can be found here.
Academic Integrity is of utmost importance at JWU. Every student will be asked to sign a document acknowledging that he/she has reviewed the university policy regarding the university honor code and academic integrity. The link to the handbook policies is provided in the Plagiarism Agreement. We ask that every professor touch on this important topic when appropriate in his/her class.
Turnitin is a web-based service available to all faculty at all JWU campuses to aid with verifying originality of student work. More information about the use of Turnitin can be found here.
