JWUlink is our all-purpose internet home for email, uLearn (our version of Blackboard) and other faculty resources, including rosters and final grade entries.

Use the same username and password for JWUlink, uLearn, and email. Access uLearn and email through JWUlink.

Where can I find an official description of the course I am teaching?

The Providence Campus course catalog information can be found here: https://catalog.jwu.edu/courses/providence/

How do I order my course textbook?

All textbook orders should be placed directly with the JWU bookstore. Please email Molly Peabody, include your course name and number, the book title, edition and year, publisher and ISBN number. Please copy the Administrative Assistant in on the email.

Where can I pick up my campus ID?

Bring your JWU ID number (J#) to Student Academic Services  (401-598-1088) on the ground floor of the Friedman Center. IDs are required for access to most buildings.

Where is my JWU email?

You can access your JWU email by logging into JWUlink (our primary University portal) and clicking on the News link in the menu. Look for the "Wildcat Email" box.  You can also access email by going directly to https://wildcatmail.jwu.edu. All email correspondence between JWU Faculty, staff and students must take place using the JWU email system. We make every effort to keep your email active throughout the year so that we can communicate with you regarding programmatic updates, curriculum meetings, and other important information.  We ask that you check your JWU email regularly throughout the year.

How do I find my class roster, classroom assignment and/or schedule?

Sign into JWUlink, and click on the Academics link in the left-hand menu. Look in the Rosters & Grading section for the information. Selected the appropriate course and/or term if prompted.

Must I distribute a physical copy of the syllabus, since the students may access it on Ulearn?

No, in fact it is recommended that you do NOT pass out a syllabus.  However, it is required that you explain to the class, in as much detail as possible,  how to access the syllabus and how to access grades.  It is also recommended that you inform the students how you will be using ulearn throughout your course.  (related: How to upload a syllabus to ulearn)

Do we need to take attendance?

Yes.  Although it is the student's responsibility to come to class, and the instructor no longer "withdraws" a student for repeated absences, the instructor is responsible for knowing who is attending and how often.  If a student withdraws, or receives a failing grade, the instructor is required to supply the last date which the student attended class

How do I get a parking pass for my guest speaker?

Ask your department's Administrative Assistant to request a temporary one-day pass from Campus Safety & Security.  The parking pass will be emailed to you for you to then forward to your guest speaker. Please be aware of the protocol for a Distinguished Guest on Campus policy (below) if it is pertinent.

I teach a course on the weekend and the classroom is locked, or I can’t gain access to a building, what should I do?

Call Campus Safety & Security at 401-598-1103.

I’d like to move classrooms or have a computer classroom for a certain class period. What should I do to reserve a room?

Email or call the Administrative Assistant with the following information: Course subject and number, date, time of class, number of students, and the requested space. Please allow a week for the classroom reservation

What should I do if I’m concerned about a student?

Please notify the Director and, at the master's level, the student's School of Education advisor.

When do I give a student a W (Withdrawal), WP (Withdrawal/Pass), or WF (Withdrawal)?

Please reach out to the Director to discuss any unusual grading issues such as this prior to reporting the final grade.
