Library Instruction: Active Learning : ENG 1020: In- Class Activities

Scenario: You have to write a short paper for a media communications class on the topic of media representation of historically marginalized identities

Using the ABCD criteria on your Google Doc work with your team to score the source you are assigned.

Is your source credible? Let's watch a video on scholarly sources to find out.

Pro-Tip: Each team evaluates ONE of the following sources:

Source 1

Source 2

Source 3

Source 4

Source 5

Source 6

Source 7

Determining the type of source in research is an important step in academic success.

Each of you have been assigned to your group by number.

Find your group number below.  In your breakout rooms, decide which student will explore which link.

Fill out this doc (find your group number on the doc).

Then the group will share out at the end and we will then come back together to compete as groups in a Kahoot.

Following MLA Format is often a necessary step when writing an academic paper.

MLA Format does not only provide consistency, but it also grants intellectual credit to the authors of the works that you referenced. Additionally, it offers your reader the opportunity to locate the sources that you utilized in your project.

Each student will be placed in a group that will meet in a breakout room. As a group, review and answer the questions listed in your group's assigned worksheet. Save your answers on a separate notepad or .doc. Each group will share their answers with the class following the activity.
