Two criteria for choosing a company:

1. Is is publicly traded?

  • if yes: you are good to go
  • if no: you may want to choose a different company. Private companies do not have the same financial transparency as public companies do.

2. Is it a subsidiary/owned by a parent company?

  • if yes: you are going to have a tough time finding information about your company. Most of the financial information will be regarding the parent company.
